My goodness --time flies---seems like faster and faster the older I get. I have missed blogging, but still struggle with the thought of not having anything new or exciting to say! I am still doing Primitives and Antiques and Reproductions, and my booth has really begun to pick up. I have met some wonderful people while doing what I love, and I love what they do!!

The last time I posted....it was a sad day as we had just found out that a family member had passed away in the Mining tragedy in WV. Our niece is really struggling, but I think she has done so well. She is one strong young woman, and she should be proud of herself. Please remember these people this week as the Anniversary of the tragedy is April 5th.

I suppose I need to show some pics of things we have been working on....Boy, hope I can remember how to do all of this.

Great chimney cabinet...we can make these in any color...well, any of our things!

These two pieces are great also. The little cabinet doesn't have a back in this pic, and then it sold before I could get it decorated in my booth and get a pic! Made alot of the bowl racks in many different colors.

These two pieces were hard to photograph and they sold before I could decorate and take a pic. The red one looks like it has legs, but it doesn't...it is made to sit on a counter or hang and put bowls, plates, pitchers, etc in.

This is a piece that I LOVED...and was praying that my dear hubby would make me one---and he did...just waiting for it to be finished,s o I can pu it in MY house! It is adorable!

And I do not remember how to flip pics...I will work on it though!

I know you have seen this from me--many times in the past.... This is another reminder for ALL of us...
I am from the County in WV where the Mine explosion happened. We found out late last night that our Niece lost her husband of not even 2 years We were lucky to see him this past weekend at a family reunion of sorts.. We know many of the families that lost loved ones. Life is too short not to take time and appreciate those in our lives. Please say a prayer for all those affected by this. The weeks and months ahead will be hard....there are many who still await news of their loved one even at this hour....

Please take time to give your loved ones time, love and your heart.

Spring HAS Sprung!..& how about those "EERS?!!

Yes, We are READY, too..aren't we? South Carolina has been cooler than normal and wetter than normal, BUT we are looking at things to start changing! ...and hopefully soon!

This is a pic of the Antique Store that I have a booth in. Katy-Dids Antiques . Trying to make some changes and add some new things. They are located in downtown Gastonia, NC.

Yes, spring HAS sprung..but look at the cute Santa that Kathy and Dennis found Saturday!

I don't have a bunch of Antiques at this time, but this is a cool Pepsi Cooler that I actually used in my home for awhile! My Dad collected Dr. Pepper -so the Pepsi collided with it!

These are a few more oft he things we have done...actually our son made the bench, 'coffee table'. Love this gray color. Well, to tell the truth --he also made the towel shelf too! We just painted it and added the back to it! This green is so pretty in person, but didn't show up too well in the pic!

By the way, can everyone share with me the way that you keep your comments CLEAN??? I got some terrible messages that seemed like Spam...not sure how to get rid of it...yucko!

Well, guess we will be headed to WV this weekend. Speaking of WV...how about those 'EERS!!! The Mountaineers, that is! I am not a big b-ball watcher, but got excited over my home team being in the Sweet 16! Now..the Elite 8 ! They will play Duke on Saturday, and I guess we will be cheering them on from HOME (in the mountain state) this time!!!

Oohhhhh, my aching back :-)

I have heard people say that all my life....my mom has had a bad back since I was a little kid......and now..I KNOW what they mean...and how they FEEL!!!! I helped my son run the tiller to put in our garden Tuesday...and then on Tuesday moved my booth around....well...got veryfamiliar with the heating pad that night...Moving very slowly yesterday and today....ugh! Hopefully will be better SOO N!!!!!

This weekend is a 'Shop Hop" for some of the prim shoppes in my area, and am hoping to be able to go...sounds fun...and my DH loves to go to eat the food AND get inspiration !

Hello!!!!! Wow, Didn't realize how long it has been! Kind of been in a 'funk' lately..ever been there???
I have been painting some of the things that DH has made for our booth. This is a pic of a part of our booth. We are in the process of redoing it again...

This is a piece that we made to be a candle board, but haven't got around to making the candles for it...so...I made it a unique game board!

This is a 'redo' that I did...and added the eggs for a gathering. I fell in LOVE with these large eggs...like a emu egg or something..really cool!

Another little game board...love these colors! And then, of course, a smaller egg bowl gathering for your sideboard or.....?

My Bunny friend! Love him! And a version of our stools that we make.. this is a porter stool style, which we can make in any color!

Well, this is short and sweet....working on listing some things on Craigslist today...we have a 1972 Volkwagon Super Beetle that we are trying to sell.

Snow--ICE in South Carolina

Hope this finds everyone doing well and enduring the wintertime! I am having a hard time finding things to talk to you about! I LOVE reading all of your blogs....and a QUESTION for you....I cannot leave comments on certain blogs...one is Pickled Pepper Patch and the other is Tomatoe Creek Prims..does anyone have any ideas as to why???...and has this happened to anyone else?
Made a few decisions lately concerning our booth and what we are going to be doing with it....we have not had a wildly successful year, but have enjoyed what we have done....so....we are going to keep at it. I have also contacted a few girls locally with prim stores and we are going to try to make a few things to put in their stores also. Mom and Frank came through on their way to Florida and I had mom come with me and do an inventory and 'change up' the booth. She was a BIG help! We got it all done, but I got to talking and I forgot to take any more pictures than this! Mom really helped me out by BUYING some things form me for her friends birthday...YEAH!!!!!

They were calling for a big snow storm here for Friday and Saturday, but we got mostly sleet and ice...but it was pretty to walk in...no snow angels or snow men, though...too hard!!!! Hopefully we will have another snow storm soon....I LOVE snow!

These are some flowers that have started to BLOOM again! They bloom all year...funny, my friend that bought this for my birthday years ago...thought I would enjoy it for the season, but it just keeps coming back! Love it!

This is a pic of part of my backyard. I thought I might mention that I am wanting to sell this ladder. I found it in a barn last summer and LOVED it but it is too big for my home...and as I shared before I have my Father in laws old ladders that I decorate with....if you know of anyone interested...let me know! I can take a better pic if anyone is interested! Usually, I have a little herb garden in forn of the bench. It looks so drab in the winter....BUT Spring is closer than it was!
Has anyone been watching American Pickers???? Love that show! Sounds like something I would LOVE to do!!! I am a follower of Olde Tyme Marketplace and she does something very similar and finds the neatest stuff!!!!

Remember the Server or shelf...that I was making for my sis and her hubby for Christmas??? I did a post about it before Christmas. Well, here it is in her home...just minutes after opening it! I turned around and she had it in the spot she wanted it for and already had things on it! I THINK she liked it!...what do you think????

This is my sister, Linda and Craig, her husband. When we got there, she was babysitting for two of her grandkids while mom and dad did some last minute shopping. You see, the week before Christmas ...WV was DUMPED on 3 1/2 FEET of snow! People were stuck in their homes and businesses were closed for several days...it was terrible! So, everyone was rushing out at the last minute to get stuff done that they normally would have had done the week before..! The kids are Nolan and Brenton and they had a blast with Gramps and Grammy playing games and reading books and making sugar cookies together!

Mom liked her little soap holder too....I made one for me, but haven't hung it yet....

Well, I hope everyone is having a good week....2010...do you believe it? Times flies....ENJOY EVERY MOMENT our God gives us!

This Little Light of Mine...

Happy New Year everyone! I just wanted to share a few pics with you of some of my recent finds! I have been looking to find more "prim" lamps for my home, but am on an Extreme Budget, so......you know how that goes! I love to see all of your black tinware(?) lamps....I WANT one..or two or three!!!!! Anyway, I found these lamps around Christmas with some of the money that my Mother in Law gave us for Christmas. I really like both of the looks, but finding affordable shades to go with them is proving to be the problem!

I just LOVED this lamp....$4.14 is all I had to put for this one.... I SNATCHED it right up!!! It i a gold/mustard kind of color, and I am toying with the possibility of spray painting it flat black....what do you think??? I kind of like the mustard color too...hmm..what to do.....I had the shade already...haven't found anything else I could afford :D

What do you think of this little 'firkin' lamp? Isn't it cute? I found it at Katydids Antiques...the little Antique Shop that I have my booth in...LOVED it!!!! Not so happy with the shade again, but am looking!

I am counting my blessings in the New Year. We saw the movie The Blind Side yesterday and it remided me... We have so MUCH to be Thankful for...our warm home and a each other to share it with....clothes, family, friends, hopes for the future....have you ever thought of that? Most of us actually HAVE hopes of the future because most of us have what we need in the NOW>>> There are those out there that don't have that luxury...they are hoping for a warm meal,someone to talk to, somewhere to sleep, something to sleep in...clothes, etc.....

I am trying to mindful of this as I move into 2010....maybe we ALL should :D

oh, yes! I almost forgot to share this little lamp that my DH surprised me with for Christmas!!!!! It is simply Scrumdilyprimilicious!!!

Wow!! Do you believe that Christmas is already here...and will be GONE before you know it? You know, if you read me at all, that I say CONTINUOUSLY to Enjoy Every Moment.....well THIS is one of those moments. I know it can get hectic with buying, baking, decorating, wrapping....it ALL sometimes gets to be TOO much. But please....start today and sllloooowwww down...and look at the faces around you, the sights and sounds and smells. BREATHE it in....This ---these things and people are what Christmas is all about.

I wanted to show you this Soap holder that we made for a tutorial from Simply Prim..
I LOVED it!!! I decided to do this last minute for my mom...SHE will love it! Thanks Kris! That is what I love about blogging..

These are different shots of my tree this year. I wanted it to be more simple --so this is where we went this year....not sure if I want to do another year without a live tree. I am so gonna work on taking prettier pics for you all in the New Year. Bear with me...

This is a picture of Poppy Seed Roll that I now make for Holidays. My mom always made it and the Nut Rolls and I decided to try to learn to make it before she is gone and I never learned! I forgot to take a pic of the after...but I made both...and they are SO...good...have any of you ever had this? I made my own nut filling this year....the pic doesn't look too appetizing, but believe me...it IS!!!!

My hubby and I went out Sunday evening to take in some lights. These are from McAdenville...Christmas City USA...in a little town not far from us....It is an annual tradition....We also tried to go to the Billy Graham Library where they have carolers and a live nativity and lights....BUT it was closed !!!!! SO disappointed...maybe next year!

Well, we are preparing to head out of here to SNOWED in WV!!!! Anxious to see the snow....it WILL be a White Christmas for me!
I hope and pray that each one of you will take time in the next couple days---starting TODAY and just breathe it in......it will NEVER be just like this ever again!!!!!

These are pictures of a gift for SOMEONE in my family. My husband designed it....She wanted a "server" for her dining room. What do you think? What color should it be??? OR --should it just be stained?

This is just more pics of my work in progress. These are for my married nieces and nephews and brother and sister. We made each a little bit different. Thought it would be cute with some grungy candles in them...a prim towel....etc....any ideas???? I am working in my kitchen --because it is so cold right now, and I am not comfortable working the kerosene heater out in the garage myself! I am now considered a true SOUTHERN girl...at least my blood is.....I am Freezing, but it is ok, because normally --I am too hot.....those ol hormones!!!

My DH has been working out in the garage for the last few nights. We decided that we would make our gifts for our family this year, so he got started....none to soon, huh? I still have to paint and stain and all, but I am pretty excited. We are trying to decide whether or not to try to start a real "business" with our handcrafts, so this may be a start!

I wanted to share this tree with you. My sweet Grandma at the age of 80, made all of her grandchildren one of these in this size for Christmas and also one for each of the great-grandchildren at the time. There were 6 great grandkids and 1 was on the way-- which was my little guy..he was due on the 6th of December and was born on the 12th. This, along with my nativity ,are the very first things I put out every year. What an heirloom! And Seth took his to his own home this year. To me, there is nothing more beautiful!

This is another pic of the outside of Olde Tyme Marktplace. Ol' Beth has been busy also.....and I keep thinking about all of the goodies I saw in her shop...what fun! I know this is blurry, but I wanted you to see how cute she has the outside of her place. If you are ever in Marshville, go introduce yourself!

Well, I better get of of here. Haven't been sleeping the best, and I am tired....so off I go..to .get it while I can!

I couldn't wait to share this with you. I have been reading this lady's blog for a while now, and FINALLY got to meet her! She has a beautiful shop in Marshville, NC. DH and I have decided that it is literally a stones throw away from here, but yet on the other side of the world! ...but it was SO worth the trip! Her shop is Olde Tyme Marketplace. It sure made my day to visit her shop...okay, my SEASON!!!! She had a weekend Open House, but on Friday night she had a candlelight night! She is in a very old building....go check her blog for more info about the building---and she had white lights and candlelight all around her pretties...Bluegrass band singing Christmas Carols....ahh.....so fun! So, I just HAD to take a few pics! Hope that you enjoy! I am still trying to figure out how to add a link....so bear with me!

Christmas Workshop!!! See what I did to my Christmas Present!

Just wanted to show you a few things I have done so far. It is so of hard for me because I want my home to look like some of yours...NOW....and I know that you all have worked very hard for awhile now....so I will TRY to be patient AND content....

This is a view from my kitchen into the dining room. Funny......we went to a yard sale in February and got this tree...pretty new...in box...and PRE-LIT!!! No, the lights did not work ---so DH cut them all off for me and Mollie redid them for me!

The hutch that you see is a hutch that my Father-in-law made me ...hmm....24 years ago....wow! Anyway...I love it, even though my style has changed a bit, I cannot bear to change it! He also made the farm table you see...he made benches to go with it, but they don't work in my dining room.

I wanted to point out to you the Family sign....I got one of those peel off thingys at the Dollar Tree...and wanted to try one...so here it is! I am sure my next one will be nicer, but kind of like the way this turned out! I am not much of a artist--words, picture-kind of artist--I SO appreciate the work that some of you do...say Kindra, for example...my goodness! Well, I could name a bunch of you that do your own artwork! I admire you!

This is my parents in law first nativity...the one that my husband remembers growing up. Many years spent with my son putting it up for me on the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year, I did it by myself, but SO enjoyed remembering .....the Bible is open to Job 42:2~~~ The verse is one that a dear friend is claiming during her battle with cancer. Say a prayer for the Miller clan if you think about it.

Okay--this is a first attempt at a pic with this ....I wanted to make it look old fashioned and I think colored lights do that! Although you cannot see them in this pic...so I may be doing another with just this later for you!

The ladder is from my husbands side of the family--way back--is all I know...have two of them --so Seth can have one also!

I am still working on it...it is taking me longer this year to get it into shape...I have two new trees and am changing my plans around, though...so we will blame it on that!!!!

Well, that is all for now...shew...I don't know how y'all do one of these everyday! Don't stop, though, cause I LOVE to read them!

Hello!

So sorry that I have been AWOL....man, I am gonna get better about this blogging stuff! Please hang in there with me...I will do better!!

I have enjoyed reading all of your nice postings on your Thanksgiving doings...sounds like everyone really enjoyed themselves and all of their family!!! We had a different type of day/week as we were alone til the Saturday after the big day.....We had a good time though as we decided to volunteer at the USO in the Charlotte Douglas Airport. They are always needing extra help around the holidays, so we decided it was the right thing to do. The soldiers and their families were SO appreciative of the meal provided by a local church. Lots of turkey and stuffing and cranberry compote, corn and sweet potatoes. Very generous also! It was a foggy day and so there were alot of layovers and delays, so many of them were stuck in the airport for the most part of the day...and many of them were only on a short leave form there bases, and had to be back Sunday. As you can imagine there were many long faces as they realized that they would be late for lunch/dinner. Many said they wanted to wait to eat Mom's or Grandmas turkey only to come back in a few minutes and ask if they could still eat as they were going to be there for awhile. It was a wonderful day that made me feel SO very grateful for our service men and women. They AND their families truly sacrifice much to serve and protect us.

My son and his wife came for the end of the weekend which also was my new DIL's birthday...so we made a nice dinner of roast chicken and smashed potatoes and roasted broccoli...and TIRAMISU!!!!! It was yummy...and I think she liked it! They helped us get out some of our Christmas things and decorate one of our trees...kind of a tradition now, as we have been doing that together since they started dating.My son has put this little angel on the tree since he was a babe! My husband and I got it for our first Christmas Tree topper...and I can't seem tom part from it. I have a more "prim" star for the other tree.

Now on the BIG news!!!! I was at home yesterday just "tweeking" my Christmas things....and my DH came home and put his head n the door and asked if I could help him with something. I said "sure." I opened the door to the garage and this is what was waiting for me! I started to cry...in shock! Kind of a funny story as to how he got that for me......Katydids Antiques --where I have my booth---got this piece in and I fell in LOVe with it!!! I told the owner that he should price it higher than it was, because I felt like he could get more money out of it! He took the tag off and was asking me what to put on it, while my DH was in the back talking to owners wife telling her he wanted to put it on layaway! Anyway, I thought it was long gone. I have had dreams about it....really I have had dreams.....so now it is MINE!!!!! I am trying to decorate it, and I don't have a great collection of pottery...YET...so I am just looking for some ideas. I have a few things on it...but just thought I would like to know what YOU would put on it if it was yours...thought it might be fun to see.....

Well, please excuse all the clutter....I am one of those that have to make a mess to clean one up...!

Harvest Time! Come and meet a few "new" friends!

Hi there! Just wanted to share with you a couple places that I visited over the weekend! Several of the "fun" shoppes were having their Holiday open houses this weekend, so hubby and I combined visiting them and leaf seeking and it was a great afternoon!

The first place that we visited was Nanbrook Farms in Lincolnton, NC. Just drinving to and through Lincolnton...was inspirational!!! But upon arrival at Nanbrook...it was "Ahhhh". I am home !!!! She has so many neat things in her shoppe and it is so warm and friendly! She had GREAT snacks as per my hubby...so he even likes to follw along! ....although he likes her shoppe as much as I do!!!! It is in a Log Cabin! She had trees all around and her little "elves" were so happy and helpful!!!

My pictures really don't do it justice as this was the first time I ever asked to do such a thing! She was gracious though and allowed me to share them with on you on my blog! Here is her blog link! http://nanbrookfarm.blogspot.com/

I also visited Splinters and Rags, but the shopkeeper there was busy with customers and I didn't want to bother her, so I just took a pic of the outside...another neat building filled with lots of goodies! She is also going to be in The Southern Christmas Show this coming week...so she is in for a BIG time!

We also visited a place in Shelby, NC on the Friday before called A Country Heart. Ann is the shopkeepers name. She has a delightful store front in downtown, and is filled to the rim with prim!!!!! I failed to bring along my camera that day.

This week was the beginning of the Christmas season for Katydids Antiques where I have my booth. I helpes Dennis and Kathyy begin getting their Christmas goodies out and their trees decorated!

Busy as a Beaver

Goodness! Cannot believe how quickly time flies! I didn't realize how long it had been since I posted! I was looking at some of your posts and SO enjoying them and then realized---hey--I NEED to post! Although, again, I don't have the exciting things in my life like some of you!

I have spent alot of time moving furniture around my house, trying this here and moving it back here and then moving it there...does that make sense???? It has been almost funny....I will get up early because I can't sleep and start looking around...and by the time DH gets up I need his help to move something! Poor guy---don't know how many mornings we were moving stuff at 6:30 in the AM!!!!

Well, let's see...guess I will give an update to the MS Bike ride that my hubby did two weeks ago. He rode 102 miles from rock Hill, SC to Greenville SC for this cause. He did great and actually cut time off of the ride this year! The morning started off VERY foggy and it is hard to watch your DH ride off into the fog on o BICYCLE.....on curvey country rodes! They have alot of support people in cars and motorcycles and trucks...so they are not alone as they ride...even if they get separated from the pack....

It was a good day because I got to spend the afternoon with my son in HIS home ---I fixed some lunch and brought it with me...and then my DIL (first time to write that!) came home form a wedding that she had been in the night before just in time to get to see Mike ride in to the finish line in Greenville! Then we went to eat together. They bought their old Ma and Pa some Ice Cream to celelbrate the occasion! Of course, DH was the only one of us who could really afford the calories we took in that night! >..But is was ok...we were together and laughing...and having fun!

Fall colors are slowly coming this way. We ave taken a few "color" rides so far. We so enjoy those, much like Linda and Mr. Red Door ! A great tradition! We drove up on the Blue Ridge Parkway a little bit last week and stpped by one of our favorite places there---Price Lake--so pretty already! We also have been walking at Kings Mountain State Park and I took a few pics there.

We have been making a few things for our booth. It is hard because alot of times you have to spend money even to "repurpose" things and we are trying to NOT do that right now as DH and his job are struggling right now --and I know alot of you know what I mean by that!

Have you ever heard the phrase "Busy as a Beaver"? Well this is a pic I took of a busy beavers work! I know most of you are understanding this feeling right now preparing for the holidays and shows you may be in for Thanksgiving and Christmas....

Oh yes! I found a fellow blogger that lives in my actual COUNTY!!!! Shakerwood Prims! I have been following her for a while now and just realized that she was so close to me! We were talking of meeting up at a local park this weekend actually, but I will not be able to as I am working at the booth and then driving into Charlotte to work at the USO Saturday. Maybe sometime!

I am SO sorry..cannot get these pics in here straight for the LIFE of me!!!

More fall pics--and a MS bike ride

I really liked this one...really the ONLY one that turned out, but....it may be my header in time!

Saturday was cool enough that I could make Pastina--an Italian version of beef vegetable soup......it was SOOOOOO good....my poor husband loves soup and he has been begging for it all summer. I was simply too warm for it! I also was able to light some of my candles....and tarts....oh, it smelled so good...soup, cider, cinnamon......mmmmmm....wonderful! It was warm again yesterday and today, but it is supposed to cool down this week! Yeah!

Just wanted to mention that my husband is again this year doing the NC/SC MS bike ride.... MS Biketober....he has an aunt and three cousins that have it ...plus we have many friends that have struggled with this disease...so he rides it for them. This is second year..last year was 105 miles, this year 100....from Rock Hill SC to Greenville SC. It is a big day for him, and I will be there to cheer him on!!!!

I wanted to try my hand again at some fall pics.....please bear with me---if there is anyone out there!!!!!

Ok,,,first off...I know nothing of this macro stuff that you speak of, so,,,this is my feeble attempt to do the textures thing....

Here are some of the fall pics from my home also.....more to come as I am completely moving every room in the house around!

These are pics of my fathers Dr. Pepper collection that was passed on to my son when Dad passed away. I boxed it all up for Seth to take to his home to display. It has been fun to collect even more things for it as you don't see them everyday like Coke or Pepsi!

New booth pics

Went Saturday and updated the booth a little for fall. I am way behind, but I had a few things to put in that we got over the summer and was waiting for some things to sell so they would fit!

I Love this white chippy grain bin...guess that is what you call it! Got it out of an old barn...looks very old....but I think it would be a good piece for the porch for Pumpkins, etc in the fall and in the winter I can see a Christmas tree in it.....Lots of possibilities....

The other thing I added was an old handmade white kitchen table...simply primilicious!!!!

I read alot of your blogs and admire your "prim" homes, and all of your pretties that you find at GW and Thrift Shops and Prim Shops and yard sales.......NOW....the question....

What do you do with your Non-prim things around your home...I don't see much of them around. Like items that were handed down or you inherited...or just are sentimental . Give me your thoughts on this...I am having a hard time mixing it in with my prim things....and I can't bear to get rid of some things!!!! Is there a ratio...or do you just put away those things??? Ok, quit laughing at me...and give me an answer!!!!

Where were you ?

I wrote this last year...2008...but as I think and watch /rewatch what events unfolded 8 years ago today, I felt it all again!

Where were you on September 11th....?

I was sitting on my bed--looking out at the beautiful blue southern
sky. I had just returned from taking my son to school and kissed my
husband goodbye for the day. I was watching the news when they began
announcing that a plane had just hit the World Trade Center. Talking
about shock and awe-----it was all over everyones faces! As we were
reeling from that, another plane came into view and it hit the other
building-right in front of our eyes.

My thoughts and emotions racing, I began to cry. I looked out my
window and saw cars driving by, all strangers, as we had recently just
moved here. The announcers were beginning to confirm what I was
thinking, but didn't want to hear. This was a terrorist attack. I
began to be afraid. My heart wanted to be with those that I love. My
husband did not have a cell phone at that time. My son was safe in
school and didn't want to scare him more than he would already be. I
called my Mother. She didn't know. Mom, please turn on your TV! We
sat in silence. It was SO shocking. I then called my Mother and
Father in Law. I called my sister and brother. Why was I calling all
these people? I think I wanted to make sure that all were safe. They
were concerned that I was alone. I just wanted to hear from Mike.
Where was he? Did he know? As the day rushed by, I wanted--- needed
to be close to my family. I called the school to see how they were
handling all of this. They were letting the older kids watch TV an
discussing it with them. That, I decided, was where Seth needed to
be. Finally, somewhere in the middle of the day, Mike called. He was
supposed to be on the road overnight, but he was coming home!

My flag! I wanted to put my American Flag out! Front and center. I
went to find it and ready it to hang. Then it was time for me to go
and get my son! I was shaking as I picked up he and his friend
Derrick. They were full of thoughts and just chatting away, but oh
how happy I was to see them, touch them, to listen to their words.
Words filled with fear, anger, questions, excitement. There was no
understanding all of this. When we got home, Mike was home and we
decided to put out the flag right away. We did so as a family and
then offered a prayer for our country, our President, the families of
those that were lost.

We sat together watching the news. Glued to the horror that was
unfolding. Happy, though to be with each other.

My parents in law called the next morning. Did Seth and Mike stay at
home? No. Everyone wanted it all to be as normal as possible.
What was normal? Would it ever be normal again? It didn't seem like it.
Bob and Rosemary wanted to be here with me. They were driving down
tomorrow. Everyone just wanted to be close to family.

So, they did.

And our lives have changed. Our world has changed.

But Our God is still in control.

The BIG day! Just breathe...

I sure do hope I am not boring you with all of the details of this wedding, but I feel a need to write it down...if only for me...to drink it all in....and treasure it. So here goes!

Seth and Mollie's wedding was at 2pm on Saturday the 29th of August. Sometimes it is hard to believe that the day has passed actually---so much thought and time went into that moment in time....wow! We were already tired from Friday and the rehearsal dinner and rehearsal...it was exhausting emotionally...and physically.... We got up early and sat out on the porch and drank coffee and some friends of ours came over and we fixed a nice breakfast to start the day...actually feeling relaxed! Mollie had asked if I wanted to go with she and her mom and sisters when they got their hair done and I had said yes...thinking I might actually need to get something done to mine to fight humidity of the day--didn't want to look like a frizz ball all day! So I got showered and washed and dried my hair and then Katie, Mollie's older sister picked me up to go to the place where we were to get our hair done. It was about an hour away and she and I got to talk...really love that girl--she is funny and beautiful--inside and out! It was nice sharing this time with the Franklin women....and seeing them get ready for the BIG day! It was running late, though and we had to rush to get back for pictures!

We got back to the cabin and everyone else was where they were supposed to be to take the before pics....except ME!!!! So, I rushed and got ready....not what I wanted, but probably better in retrospect! Our friend Jenn and her daughter Emma came and picked me up to got o the Lodge. Mollie and Seth had decided to do the bulk of the pictures before the wedding so they could spend time with family and friends that had come to share in their special day. When Jenn and I pulled up to the Lodge...there they were....my two boys and Greg ( Jenn's husband and Emma's Daddy) and it took my breath away! It was hard ...but I held on and my eyes just stayed misty....it was so sweet...and I was so proud! sweet Emma

I have to insert here about the craziness of getting the dress for the BIG day! I didn't get the dress til the Saturday before....now that was not the first dress....it was the 6th dress! I am not a fan of being in front of alot people--so, it was hard for me to think of that! But my hubby really liked this dress, and I was given my Grandmothers pearls to wear with it and then he bought me a Pearl bracelet to go with it and it felt just right! Very special....

The time came for the big "reveal".....hearts pounding, smiles broad on our faces, eyes misty(again)....They had Seth come to the base of the castle stairs and turn his back to them and then had Mollie come down and put her back to him.....and then .......bumtobum bum.....They turned around....and we were there to see.....it was a beautiful moment shared by all!! My son's face was radiant.....I cannot think of another word! It was beautiful! They chose to make it a big deal as it would have been if he was seeing her for the first time in the ceremony...and I think it was perfect!

Then we went our separate ways to await the ceremony...this time was full of fun and we got to see alot f our friends and family arriving....I wass starting to relax a bit by now....and I think others were also....

The line up began...Greg and Seth came in from the side and then they began to seat the Grandmas and Moms....they wanted Seth to see all of this....we all sat in Rocking chairs at the front sides of the Lodge.....this was nice, but scary at the same time, as I was too short to sit back in the rocker...I was afraid of looking like Edith Ann( am Itelling my age? Does anyone remember her?) Well, I know I mentioned that my breath had been taken away earlier, but at this point...I am not sure I WAS breathing! When Mike (hubby) seated me he kissed me...and gave me "the look" and said "I love You". ....ok that was a reminder to breathe...so I did...for a sec anyway! Then Mollie came out....oh my.....beautiful......! The ceremony was one of the most meaningful ceremonies I have ever witnessed.......More on that later.....They did their vows and did the Cord of Three Strands and then Kissed---more on that later too!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!!! Breathe Kim!!!!!!!

All in all, a wondeful day....I got to watch my son and his bride dance and
Mollie and her poppa dance and then I got to dance with my boy...oh what a feeling...I chose "My Wish" for us to dance to and I ace had a hard tome listening to it till now....but I actually caught myself SINGING it to him while we were dancing! These are some of the words....

My wish for you is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big , your worries stay small
you never need to carry more than you can hold..

And when your out there getting where your getting to
I hope you know somebody loves you
and wants the same things to
yeah this is My Wish....

I can't believe I sang it TO him, but I was definitely feeling it! Shew!!!

Well I must stop now..so much was special, but just to us.....
But I am SO happy for them.....They are happy! Very.....
Now all their days are the BIG days!

Wow...what a week....my mind and heart are still reeling! I am tired....but feel sort of reflective...don't know how to describe it! I have so many things to share, but don't know where to start!

Well, it was a beautiful weekend! If you are close and can get to Table Rock State Park in Pickens SC, you should! It is breath taking! It is inspiring! ....So it was a great place for a wedding! We stayed in the cabins there and so enjoyed the fresh air and the rustic feel to them! They have all of the amenities that you need...and there was a kitchen so we never had to leave there if we didn't want to!!!! Each morning and evening was spent sitting on the screened porch watching the deer and listening to the birds wake up....ahhh,...nice!

Seth made this to give to Linda (my sis) for being their wedding coordinator. It is a quilt rack/shelf thingy......My boy has become quite the craftsman!

This is us doing the Jordan Almond Favors I had for the dinner...I will need to take a pic of them when I can so you can see...they turned out great....

The next pic is one of just my car...showing you how full we were...had to take everything BUT the kitchen sink---thank goodness...wouldn't have known what to do with it!

Mike and I---it was becoming increasingly REAL right here.....there was gonna be a wedding! :D

I will tell you about the Rehearsal dinner...and hope it doesn't sound to much like bragging! It went off great!!! Way too much food, but that is better than not enough!!!! The decorations I chose fit in so nicely in the Lodge and the surroundings.. My mom and Sis and I were able to get done all of the things we needed to do and and then get the kitchen ready....It was nearing time for us to go and get dressed and ready for the evening and I was getting worried.....but my Sis in law came to the rescue! They were coming form Kentucky and got there just in time! She took over the kitchen duties along with my Mom in law and Brothers in law and my mom's husband, Frank! What a blessing! They would not let us back in to do anything...go and enjoy...be a grandma, or mom, etc! Wow! Truly a wonderful gesture...and SO much appreciated! The food was good and the music was nice{actually found Italian Dinner Music Cd at the dollar store--woohoo!} Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time! A nice blend of two families~got to meet some new faces on Mollies side and she ours...and I got to see alot of my nieces and nephews and their kids...it was just a perfect evening!

Like the movie...Father of The Bride....only it is me...Kim! So many times this past weekend....it felt like I was in a movie...and things and people were just moving around me and I would just have to stop and breath and take it all in! It Won't Be Like This For Long

Hi there!!!! Wow...we are on 9 days and counting til the big day! It seems like time has flown by, and yet it seems like it drags on...strange to feel both! Ever feel that way???

I found a dress...actually 2 dresses.....not sure of which one I want to wear! It is so hard for me to think of being in pics...I hate pics of me...but I LOVE to take pics of others! We will see how it goes.

Time has been spent thinking, planning and making LISTS! I am so afraid of forgetting something for the rehearsal dinner. I have stashes all over the house...plus in the freezer...shoo! I also am helping Seth get everything packed up to take to his new home. So, we have that all over too! I actually cleaned Seth's room yesterday, so he doesn't fell claustrophobic in it! I just keep reminding myself..."It Won't Be Like This For Long". Have you heard that song...? Oh my..it is about a girl, but I can make it for a boy in my mind! Darius Rucker does it --if you haven't.

I made some sauce and meatballs to freeze and will make one more today or tomorrow. My mom and sis are going to make some extra sauce also. We are going to use the catering kitchen in the lodge and it has warming ovens, so I have to make sure the Lasagna will not dry out!

I wanted to show a few more things that I found earlier in the summer in the old barn. I need to take them to the booth....

You know, I am so PROUD of my son! He brought home an OLD rocker yesterday with the greatest "Bones"! It is in very bad shape, but he has dreams of having it re-upoholstered...he has such vision! I just don't know too many young people that can think past the look of stuff (and the smell :D) to see a beautiful finished antique!

I am still struggling with my tick bite. I took the recommended two weeks of anti-biotics, but still"feel" like something isn't right! I have to wait for 4-6 weeks to get the test for Lymes Disease, so I must wait. Not a very patient person!

Well, have a great end of week and WEEKEND!! WooHoo! Saturday...it will be ONE WEEK!!! OMGoodness!

This is in response to Linda at Behind My Red Doors challenge of things I like about August! It was kind of tough, because, normally it is not my favorite month at all!

I also wanted to show off a nice crock I found...and ask if anyone knows of a place to find out more about them...like value and such...it only has the #2 on it...but I don't see any names....any ideas are appreciated! This is my first "real" crock buy!!! I just liked the look of it! Probably will go into my booth, so I want to know more about it to price it.

So here goes......

#1~~~August 29th--Seth and Mollie will become man and wife

#2~~~Sunflowers---Black -Eyed Susans and all the other pretty yellow flowers....

#3 Tomatoes...usually we can lots and lots of them this month, but now I am just making Spaghetti sauce and meatballs :D (if confused--you just have to read earlier posts!) BUT, I am eating LOTS of them!!!!

#4~~~Fresh veggies and fruit...squash, corn, SC peaches (orchards all around me) watermelon, cantaloupes, pears...wow, I am in heaven!

#5~~~Thoughts of fall

#6~~~~ Thoughts of cooler weather...not cold, but not sweaty either! I can burn candles without it making it hotter! WooHoo!

#7~~~~ The Greek Festival in Charlotte is just a couple weeks away!

#8~~~~ Football....crazy, but I am starting to actually LIKE it...no...I do NOT understand it, but I like it!

#9~~~Fall cleaning.....it feels SO good to get that done!

#10~~~~~The SOUNDS of fall...the crickets and bugs....birds...they ALL sound different...

View from The Lodge at Table Rock

Sorry that I have been away for so long...I mean, I have been right here, but life got in the way of my posting!

Let's see.....since we were last together.....my son came home from work on the farm---with swollen eye, after being stung by a bee under his eye.....oh did it look horrible....he had to stay home for a day, because he couldn't even see out of t!!! After loads of Benedryl and ice, he was off to work, and feeling fine!

I was bitten by a tick Sunday before last, and thought all was ok for a few days until my lymph nodes began swelling and and I didn't feel so great...so to the doc. I am on an anti-biotic...and then after a month they can do the not so accurate test to see if I have Lyme's Disease...GREAT! Anyway, feeling some better...just tired.

Why am I so tired do you say??? Well, my sweet sis came down from West Virginia and last Friday we proceeded to make Lasagna and meatballs to put in the freezer for the Rehearsal dinner....8 pans...and 180 meatballs...and more to come....it was a Friday marathon...but it was fun to have some help...and laughter! Then she helped me pull together all of the stuff we already have and then go and buy what else I needed for the dinner ..and then helped me look for a DRESS!!!!! No, I am STILL looking! I found one that will do, but is not what I really had my heart set on. So......still gonna look.

My sis Linda is also gonna be the wedding coordinator, so while she was here we went and let her meet with Mollie and discuss some things and then we went to let her look at the wedding site. Can I say...this is going to BEAUTIFUL??????

So, no yard sale fixes or making Fall things, or crafting of any sort....but SOON....and cannot wait!

You know, I think I am mentally preparing for the big day....it will be an emotional one...Seth

doesn't understand why there are tears when it is a happy time....oh yes, I am happy....happy to

see my son find his soul mate~the mother to his children~his help mate~his best friend! Happy

that we finally will have a daughter, and one day grandkids, but also reminiscent of my sweet

little boy who hung out with me doing Christmas decorating and cookie baking and making

Jesus' Birthday cakes, and the snuggly {is this a word?} little boy who loved for me to lay in his

bed while reading the same books over and over to...night after night.....and let me sing to him

my little songs that I made up for him [very silly ones I might add!}.. And of course there is my

vast knowledge of all makes and models of cars that I now have because as a boy...he knew them

like the back of his hand and taught them to me! The toddler who took walks with me while I

pulled him in his little red wagon,and dug in Legos and Lincoln Logs [Do any of you know that

sound??? So sweet, but sure was annoying at the time!] and built things all over the living room!

Then later in life the teenager who loved to hunt for free stuff with his dear mom on the curb

side pickup weeks in our little town and then eventually antiquing together.....oh shoot..I could go

on and on...and I WILL miss those things, already do...BUT...there are new things to enjoy...and

I cannot wait to see what they are! So, it is a mixed cry that I will be doing on that big WEEK!!!!! ....and it is ok....really, it is....

Love this in my front yard...this is SO pretty! I was taking the pic and the neighbor girl walked by nd said she thought this looked like a pic in a magazine!

This is Sarah, our trusty old dog who loves to sleep, take walks, and EAT!!!! She is such a good companion!

This is a yard sale redo.....I painted it and Hubby made the box for the bottom. I put it in the booth today.

This is one of my attempts to use those labels that we all love so!

Just a short one.......

Ok...I am short, but what I meant is that I was going to do a short post!!! Ok, a little silly this morning! I am looking for a dress for the wedding and think I may just go crazy! I am not the "normal" size, as I am 4"11". There isn't a huge amount of dresses out there for someone my size and my age. I don't really want to spend alot of money on something that I won't necessarily wear again, so.....I am on a quest and I will win! Keep ya posted!

I had promised a picture of Seth's piece of furniture that we unearthed from the old barn a couple months ago. Remember, I told you the story about getting it here, cleaning it up and then getting it on the truck to take it to KatyDids to sell and the mirror flying off????? It was beautiful! Amazing that it was still intact after all of these years...it is probably from around the 1800's! Well, it is still for sell, but just the bottom part. He kept the rest of it to possibly try to fix for himself if it doesn't sell as is..but.....He needs moolah right now!!!
This is a picture of another piece that we got out of the same barn.. It is for sale also at Katydids...I think it would make a great TV stand for one of the big screen TV's! This pic was taken before we got the knobs back on.

I just want to say that I have so enjoyed reading all of your blogs and my husband laughs at me because I talk about you as if I know you!!! I hope to have more time to write and share my thrifting journeys with you....my life will be making some twists and turns in the near future and I will come out on the other side as a Empty Nester! More on that later!!!

Sharing my roots

My Italian roots that is!!!!!

Since I haven't shown many pics of my makeover crafts, thrifting, etc lately...thought I would share what I am doing.....

These are ust some of the bottles that I am cleaning up to use for my son's Rehearsal dinner.....the plan is to get them clean and put one on each table with these sunflowers in them! [fake--the place we are in doesn't want fresh flowers in the building as it is old and they can stain the floor,etc] My son and I have found a bunch of old mason jars and milk bottles and thought it would be a cute "prim" centerpiece! I am planning on lining the tables with white butcher paper, and then putting a square of homespun in the middle ---green and beige-----and then the jars and flowers...what do ya think?????? Another idea I had was to put crayons at each table...or colored pencils maybe for people to draw on or write sentiments for the kids....not sure of this yet! The theme is Italian since I am making Lasagna and Meatballs and homemade sauce. AAAHHH!!!

Anyway, wanted to share that with ya!
Haven't felt very good the last 24 hours....achy joints and all....hmmm....

Precious Moments

Good Morning! I am here again, and wondering if I have anything to say to the people who choose to stop by and read what I have to say. I so enjoy reading about your lives and the twists and turns that life takes you on. Mostly simple posts about the everyday. I guess it makes you realize that we are not alone in our journeys. I like to see that you too rejoice in the mundane things!

As I have said before, I have one son, who has just graduated from college and is now preparing for the biggest time of his life....His Marriage! Life is very exciting right now, as they are getting all the little details together for the wedding, but these two have worked very hard on what comes after that....The everyday of living...the ups, downs, ......well...the Mundane days! You know, when the house just needs picked up and you work at it together.....the yard mowed, the clothes washed, you need dinner for two....and you are tired...bills need to be paid....etc,etc.....just stuff...nothin' special. The special part comes in knowing that you are with the one you love...and that is all that REALLY matters. These are the days when you can easily get frustrated and snap at each other when you don't really want to, or mean to. But if you are prepared for it, it all seems to flow and you get by them and then realize...This is what LIFE is all about! Being togehter ---for each other---through ALL of it!

Mountain climbing

My husband and I were married young, and I won't say this about him, but boy was I Dumb! I new nothing of cooking and cleaning or anything domestic really! I was still a selfish girl. But he suffered through with me and now we are going on 28 years! Life is full f hard times, as well as good. There are days when we both wonder what are we doing??? But deep inside on those days we know in our hearts that we need each other. We "FIT". Part of that came from living through the Mundane and doing it with each other! Not sure if that makes sense to anyone....

But...THESE are the Precious Moments...today...everyday....look for them....at the end of each day....and CHERISH them! Know that each of the days when we don't feel like anything special is happening....or WE don't feel special....know that you are in a scene in a motion picture and, but you see only part of it....you have to be patient and hold on for the showstopper at the end!!!!
And, it will win Academy Awards!

Now, hopefully, my life will soon be to the point of me doing a little bit of crafting! I haven't got much done n the last bit! Fall is coming and then comes Christmas! I need to get moving, huh???

Hey all...just got back from a week of Cruising! This was my first and if I can ever afford it again, will not be my last! It is CRAZY! Food...ALL the time...[not good since my son is getting married in August....]...live music....family.....sunrise, sunset....ahh..it is the life!!

My mom turned 80 this year and she wanted all of her family to go on a cruise with her...so she paid for us to go!! WooHoo! It was my brother and his wife and my sis and her husband and Mom and her husband Frank, as well as my brothers wife's sister and Mom. We ate dinner together every night {at 8:15 pm} and shared our experiences of the day together. We stopped in Key west and then on to Grand Caymans and then to Jamaica, man....it was awesome! I will share photos in the necxt few weeks....

Now, I need to focus on making meatballs and sauce to freeze for the rehearsal dinner. My sister will be coming to help me prepare the lasagna to freeze at the end of August.

What has been going on with all of you in the last couple weeks? Good Fourth of July??? We stopped in Jacksonville on the way home and got to watch them there....just awesome!

Oh my goodness! A whole week has passed and I have neglected my new venture----Blogging! Do you have trouble feeling like you don't have anything exciting to say??? My life is a pretty normal one, so it's not full of new and different things going on~~~~~like, say Linda @ Behind My Red Door with a new grand baby{thanks Linda for becoming a follower of me!}, or Leslie @ My Country
Home with her children now home for the summer....alot of you are enjoying that at this time! Me, well....we are just beginning the journey of Empty Nesting....and are muddling our way through it! Right now we spend as much time being available to our son and his fiancee, as they are busy getting ready for their married life! You know, it will never be just like this ever again, and I have made it a challenge in my life to Enjoy
Every Moment of this process!!!! So, you may see that saying alot in my posts! Now on to the events of my past week!

Last Sunday, Mollie and Seth wanted to take the canoe out for a while. We all gathered up our gear and SUNSCREEN and off we went! Had an awesome time! We have a 3 person canoe and so we took turns laying out and canoeing. It was a blast! I made sure all involved kept their sunscreen on so as not to burn, but .....I forgot ME!!! Well, needless to say...I have blistered and am now peeling! Not good!!! Then we came home and made dinner~~~~Ribs on the smoker!!! Oh yeah!!! It was a nice day spent together. Seth and Mollie were not going to be able to be here yesterday for Father's Day, so we celebrated in a way then!

Then on Tuesday...all HAIL broke loose! Literally! Mike and I were shopping in Gastonia and as were driving home, we began to notice the skies looking very strange. Dark to the left and right and clear in the middle. Then it started lightening all around. As we were driving down the road to our house lightening hit some lines and was very close! We kept going and Mikes eyes are glued to the skies. He has been watching Storm Chasers and has learned what to look for in major storms. He said "It is coming! I think it is RIGHT here!" Seth was at home, and was on the front porch when we pulled in and hit the garage door. The power went off just as the the door was halfway up. Then...as I said....ALL hail broke loose! Huge Hail!!! Seth manually opened the door and we got in! The trees behind our house were laying down the wind was blowing so hard and it was lightening! Wow! Dumb us, though ---we stood at our french doors and watched it all! Never again! Well, when it was over . it was a mess.! No major damage~Thank You God~ but the garden took a beating...lots of limbs down, and the well cover was missing. But WE were ok! The power came back on in the middle of the night, so it wasn't too bad.

Then on Saturday, we drove down to Travelers Rest and helped Moll
ie move in to their house they have chosen to rent. It was one of the hottest days of the year so far this summer and humid. But their little home is so sweet! We got it cleaned and ready for her to stay there that night. Mollie and Seth both are doing Broyhill Leadership Camp this week at Queens University in Charlotte, so she won't be there this week. Seth is working all of the camps but she is only doing two of them. They are both recent College Grads and are having a hard time finding jobs in their fields so they are doing a bunch of little jobs til they find just the right one! Mollie got a job at a church doing some work on a Evangelistic Campaign they are doing--she will work 20 hours a week doing that and then she is also doing yard work for a couple. Seth works on a local farm helping them do upkeep. He has done this for several years now, and they take very good care of him financially! He does 5 camps during the summer also. He has been sending out resumes too.

Haven't got to do alot of crafting this week. Not sure I will be able to do much this week either as I am packing for our CRUISE!!! WooHoo! More on that later--this has been a long post--sorry.

I am hoping now to put some pics in to be able to show some of what I am talking about !! Easier said than done for me!

Happy Weekend!

It has been a fabulous weekend with sunshine~~ and some rain, but then again God knows what we need of both! I decided early on this year with all of the rain that we were having to not complain as we have been in a huge drought for the last three years here.

Mollie and Seth were here, so we got up and made a good breakfast and then they had a meeting for some camps that they are working at this summer. We cleaned up the kitchen and Mike asked if I wanted to go to some out of the way Goodwill's and Thrift Shops that I don't usually get to...so I said YES!!!! It was a great day and didn't find anything but got to spend time riding around looking at nature and spending time with hubby! We had thought we would make ribs on the grill that night, but we didn''t get home in time so I made Calzones....on the grill....they turned out GREAT! The kids loved them~! Then we watched Night in The Museum {the first one}. It was funny and now I am set to see the new one!

I wanted to tell you that I decided to make Blackberry Cobbler last night also! It was almost a landslide decision over pie! It was SO good...and we bought some frozen vanilla yogurt to go with it! It you haven't tried Food Lion's brand---go out and try it---it is very yummy!

Well, I hoped to have pics of the cobbler, but we ate it too fast! Sorry, maybe next time! I wanted to share it with you because we did it in a cast iron skillet on the grill! It was a beautiful piece of work... :D

Blackberries.....pie or cobbler????

Hi there !! How are you this morning?? I wanted to share with you something that I did---well watched being done---yesterday. My two boys found some blackberries ripe on the farm that my son works at and we--well, they-- went and picked some !!! WooHoo! I am not much for high weeds and flip-flops...not a great combo, I don't think! Anyway, I froze them and am trying to figure out which I want to make---pie or cobbler....and wondered what you thought.

It was a beautiful day on the farm...just so hot and humid. I don't know how Seth works out in it all day. I worry about him some days...he comes home so drained. But he is surrounded by nature and the quietness and God's wonderful creation, SO inspiring.

So, do you see my finished firecrackers??? I think they turned out pretty good! What do you think?? I made a second batch, but feel like they turned out too dark [my mistake]...so may add them with some of the others and mix and match them to sell....Also. that is my husbands first attempt at making a dough board. It is made out of 100 year old wood. I think he did a great job, very proud of him!

Miracles still exist!..

Well, it was a sad day yesterday for my son, but really all three of us! My son decided to take his furniture finds to KatyDids Antiques to try and sell them there. My husband and Seth loaded everything up along with some items that I was taking up there. We got out on the road and everything was going great, and Seth looked back and the mirrorjust went flying of of the 100 year old dresser.......he was SO upset....BUT miracle of all miracles....the mirror did NOT break! The wood holding was shredded to bits....but....My husband was able to stop and get to everything before any cars ran over them, so we have all of the pieces, they just are not together. We were So disappointed--He ended up putting them in the booth as is....maybe a good place for a big screen??? I know it isn't waht he had hoped.....the history was so intriging to him. He just graduated from college with a degree in History.....his desire was to pass that history on....

These pics were taken before he put the knobs back on and finished waxing the pieces....the knobs really made the things even more beautiful, but I forgot to take pics !!!!

It is going to be another hot one here today....it is nice, but I just wilt to nothing in this weather!!!! I am a mid 70's to low 80's kind of gal....but I have to say Thanks God for the sun as well as the rain.....

This is the place where my son, Seth and his fiancee'., Mollie will be married! Table Rock state Park. It will be a beautiful wedding!

Have you ever had a day/week that you feel like you have SO much to do, but don't know where to start??? This is my week! I am trying to re-do a few things for the booth and also do some painting...but it is all a bunch of little things that are flowing together!

The antique mall I am in is participating in a city night in our town. There will be booths and a band and dancing, etc. It sounds like a great thing to get my things seen......so I guess I feel pressure to be really good! I don't have alot of confidence in all of this as of yet, so...I am nervous!

My son has decided to put his pieces in the booth, and I think they will do well. I am going with him today to rearrange my first booth to get them in it and still look good! I hope he is able to sell them soon, he really needs to have that money in and, as he is getting married in August and, of course, there are always a bunch of little things that you need.

Well, I do hope I can load some pics in today....just wish I could figure out how to do it the way I want to! I am a bit impatient if you can't tell!

Hello..good afternoon! Hope your Monday is starting off well! I got up this morning and actually made it to the YMCA! It felt good to do my time on the treadmill and lift those old weights! Got home and on to work! I am attempting to make the firecrackers that Char taught us to do a few days ago...at The Pickled Pepper Patch. My hubby cut the dowel for me and brought them in.....my dog went NUTS!!!!! She sniffed one and then grabbed it and ran to start chewing.!!! Mind you-this is the dog that only HIDES the bones we get for her...she rarely ever chews them! She went to town on this piece of wood and then started throwing it up in the air playing with it.....crazy! Here is a pic of her with it on my son's pillow. Her name is Sarah. She is a Beagle springer spaniel mix.....and we LOVE her!

Ok..I am still not understanding what to do on this thing! I can only load pics in together, not in between my ramblings....have to work on it.....

Anyway, I wanted to put in a pic of my yard sale finds, but until I figure this out --you will have to wait til next time!

Good Morning! Hope all are having good and productive weeks! I am still working on some things for my booth. Took some time yesterday to go Goodwilling yesterday...what fun!

As promised, here are a few pics of my Son's finds.
He found this in an outbuilding in the upstairs of it! Pretty amazing! There were items form the 1940's in it...but I think it is from the Early 1900's or late 1800's....what do you think????

It is very hot and humid here this week! I know that I shouldn't complain, so I won't...just making a comment! I melt in this type weather! Not to mention the hair problems! It is supposed to make a cooldown this weekend, so that will be nice.

I am trying to learn more each day concerning the blog world. I believe now I have learned what I was missing with the comment problem. So please, let me hear from you! I love to read your blogs, and feel like I already know most of you!

I worked on painting and staining some things that hubby made the other night. Some candle boards and a dough board. He is working on a display for the booth also. My son gained access to an old estate and I will have to take pics of what he got out of the barns and out building there! Wow! Old doors, a metal table, a wood table--all white and prim, and a potting bench--just adorable...a white wooden box thingy....old Christmas cards....oh I could go on and on! NOW....what is mine and what is for sell???? That is the question of the hour! I will go out and take pics to add to this{if I can!!!}

I forgot to mention what my son found to sell on his own! It is awesome! Well, it doesn't seem to want me to put tat pic in right now...so...maybe save it for tomorrow! Just wait til you see! Guess yiu will have to check back in...!!!!!!

Ok, I set my new booth up in KatyDids Antiques in Gastonia, NC yesterday. It was hard, but FUN ! AND exciting! I have decided to try to keep both booths there for a while. If I see I am losing money, I will pull back and just do the one. It will prove to be a busy summer with my son getting married to his college sweetie in August, and then a cruise in July with my family (Mom and her hubby, sis and her hubby and brother and his wife). Never been on a cruise before OR saw my son married off while doing a Rehearsal dinner too!!!!! So, not positive of the time I have to put toward all of this! I will try HARD though!

Now back to the booth......I am in an area that I think will be a teaching experience for the customer. Teach them about Primitve, Shabby, and chippy. I have loved them for a long time now, but since moving to SC, don't see a bunch of it around....ALTHOUGH....seeing much more now!!!! My stuff is a mix of Re-Purposed, Vintage, Antique and Handmade Prim! It is the only one of its kind in the Antique place I am in. So, it stands out to say the least!

Now, let me try to put pics up. Like I say I am new to Blogland....

Hello out there in Blog land! My thanks goes out to Ann at This Simple Life for replying to my comment and mentioning my blog! I have to apologize, though, because I haven't written but one post! Overwhelmed is the word...for me.....I don't really know what I am doing!

But today is the day that I will be moving into my SECOND booth trying to sell goods that I "re-purpose" and make new again and then others that I just make new! I am excited and nervous! Hopefully, I will learn how to do this here thingy and will be able to put up some pics on it for you to see.

I am very anxious to hear from some of you as I wasn't sure as to how to get noticed on this! Please write and let me know you are looking ! That will push into all of this more and more!

This is my first blog post, so bear with me as I learn!!!
My intentions for this blog are to share with my reader my life, love, and laughter! I will be sharing a newly found love of thrifting, and re-purposing, that I am doing in attempt to help with the financial side of my family. Also, because I really love it and so enjoy being able to offer things for your home that I know are normally quite expensive. But in doing them the way that I am trying to do affords you to have new things to help decorate your home and not break the bank! This is , of course, all new to me so it has been a learning experience every step of the way!

Also, in this blog I want to share with you my love of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and how I see him working in my life every day!
